Nick Memoro Rosato Vino d’Italia, £9.99, Tesco
Popular Chianti producers Piccini have put together four Italian grapes; Negroamaro, Nero d’Avola, Montepulciano and Italian Merlot to make this lovely rose or rosato. It’s light, fresh and full of red cherry and strawberry flavours. Alcohol level is 13.5% and although not cheap it’s worth keeping a lookout for discounts.
Truly Irresistable Godello 2012, £6.49, Co-op
Godello is a grape native to Spain’s northern ‘green’ region of Galicia and like Portugal’s Verdelho the white is crisp and peaches are the strongest taste. Dry enough to go with all kinds of seafood and white meat this is Co-op’s own label brand and the price is £2 below the normal £8.49 until April 22. Alcohol is 13%.
