Here in Basel, deep drilling caused (note past tense) earthquakes, and massive pressure from the public finally stopped it.
Recently, just around the corner on Lake Constance, drilling was also brought to a halt by the people after earthquakes with the magnitude of 3.5 were directly linked to drilling.
I am not talking about so-called micro-quakes, these quakes caused damage.
How desperate must the energy situation be getting if we need to crack the very ground we live on to get at the last pockets of gas and oil?
