Letter: Wasps are more dangerous than snakes

2:44pm Wednesday 15th May 2013

WITH reference to the story ‘Dog walker bitten by snake near Haslingden reservoir’ (LT, May 10), wasp stings kill far more people in the UK through anaphylactic shock than adders.

Letter: Poisonous is a misnomer

2:48pm Wednesday 15th May 2013

Poisonous does not mean venomous. I think it unlikely that the snake was in fact poisonous, given that there are only one snake I know of that is poisonous.

Letter: TV ignored cup final plans

2:44pm Wednesday 15th May 2013

I watched the FA Cup Final after waiting until 5.15pm for it. Before that, Aston Villa and Chelsea played at 12.45pm.

Blog: Passionate about politics? Then get involved!

9:53am Wednesday 15th May 2013

I am a member of a minority. We are not liked, we are at times jeered and we are laughed at. I would like you to join us.

Column: It pays to play a ‘little bit thick’

3:11pm Tuesday 14th May 2013

HEY up — and get out road. Did I really say that? Surely not?

Opinion: Firms also need to take responsibility

2:19pm Tuesday 14th May 2013

THE issue of fining parents for taking their children on holiday in term time is a thorny one.

Letter: Founders of faith insights

2:23pm Tuesday 14th May 2013

Jesus and Mohammed were remarkable because they both proved through power of imagination and truth that there was only one God.

Let’s have the FACTS.

Letter: Life of service to community

2:20pm Tuesday 14th May 2013

Being a town councillor today pays almost as well as a full time job (‘Blackburn with Darwen councillors in row over expenses cap,’ LT May 9).

COMMENT: The Angel of Accrington is greatly missed

8:00am Saturday 11th May 2013

Before the ‘Angel’ of Accrington flew in to start her astounding town-changing, heart-changing work, life was frustrating at best and fatal at worst.

COMMENT: We'll never see another Alex Ferguson

3:15pm Friday 10th May 2013

With the retirement of Alex Ferguson we are reminded that all good things must come to an end.

Review: The Voice, BBC1

11:52am Friday 10th May 2013

THE coolest furniture on TV has revolved for the final time, the teams have been sorted, the battle lines are drawn and — let’s face it — The Voice goes downhill from now on.

Comment: Pioneering school gets top marks

4:34pm Thursday 9th May 2013

SCHOOLS are sometimes criticised for failing to equip students for today and tomorrow’s world and being technologically behind the times.

Letter: We're all god's children here

4:34pm Thursday 9th May 2013

I HAVE been happily married for 58 years. My children and grandchildren are married. Allowing gay marriage would have zero effect on our marriages and probably no effect on the Rev Kevin Logan’s marriage.

Letter: We've been on 'merry go round'

4:33pm Thursday 9th May 2013

FOLLOWING on from the concerns over Royal Blackburn Hospital’s readmission rate ‘merry go round’ (LT, May 8), they have done this with my 79-year-old mother, sending her home at 10.30pm, then she’s back the next day.

Letter: A modern-day saint lost to us

4:30pm Thursday 9th May 2013

Dorothy Ann McGregor, the founder of Maundy Relief in Accrington, touched the lives of people not just on the edges of life, but people also on the edges of faith, who struggled with the “illness of meaning”.

Letter: Buildings money down the drain

4:29pm Thursday 9th May 2013

HOW long has the Ainsworth Street market been in Blackburn? The modern front to the library? The revamped Boulevard?

Letter: Honour to take county council seat

4:30pm Thursday 9th May 2013

I very much appreciate the opportunity and privilege given to me by the electors of Ribble Valley South West to become their county councillor. It is an honour to succeed County Coun Chris Holtom, after his long and dedicated service.

Letter: Pay up? But we're MPs!

4:29pm Thursday 9th May 2013

According to a newspaper report, MPs are demanding a reduction in the price of beer sold in the House of Commons bars. The price (circa £2.60 per pint) is linked to that charged by a nearby Wetherspoons pub.
