URGENT action needs to be taken over a raft of potholes which have sprung up across Colne, say councillors.
Road conditions have deteriorated in some locations, it has been revealed, after the latest thaw.
Major roads such as Windy Bank, Skipton Road, and Keighley Road have all suffered damage, which has been blamed on another severe winter for East Lancashire.
And neighbours in Thorn Grove and Intake Crescent, in Horsfield, have complained of subsidence since the cold snap.
Coun Tony Greaves said if county council engineers did not act now to tackle the worst potholes then some of the town’s best-used routes could be ‘impassable’.
County and borough councillor Mike Calvert said the repair of potholes had been suspended over the past few weeks, as such works could not be carried out in extreme cold temperatures.
Once the main roads had been treated then a number of the side streets could be considered for repairs, where necessary, he added.
