COUNCILLORS viewing a model of the town pier were delighted to see “Gravesend on a silver sea”.
The cardboard scale model, with the Thames represented by silver foil, met with approval when shown to members of Gravesham's regulatory board.
And Councillor Robin Theobald made the comment amid general agreement that the pier will be a “jewel in the crown”.
Councillor Elizabeth Colley added her praise: “Visually and architecturally it is super. The restoration of the pier is second to none as far as the history of Gravesend is concerned.
“Rather than blocking views it will enhance them.”
