Observer & Review Sunday League Division One
FOLLOWING a tight opening half hour between Six Bells and Riders Intersport, after which the scores were 1-1, Riders brought on Danny Hollister whose considerable impact enabled his team to go on to win 7-1.
Hollister, who replaced the unwell John McLaughlin, scored with his first touch, and would add another before the game was over. Ian Redfern also scored twice, while China McGregor, Sid Ejjayha, and man-of-the-match Mick Doyle were also on target. Stand-in referee Alan Charran also had a good game.
Brookmans Park struggled initially to break down Church End, but eventually cruised to satisfying 5-1 victory. Church End frustrated their opponents for the opening period, but the pressure told when Trevor Clayworth put through his own net before the break. Rob Biddulph added two more in the next few minutes as Park went into half time 3-0 to the good.
Matt Geary made it 4-0 early in the second half, but Nick Hanly, who had earlier had a goal disallowed, pulled one back for Church End. Jimmy Cousins brought an end to the scoring, lobbing neatly for Park's fifth after injury had reduced Church End to ten men.
