100 jobs set to go as Cornholme firm closes

A 124-YEAR-OLD furniture company has closed in Cornholme, with the expected loss of around 100 jobs.

Administrators BDO have been called in at James H Sutcliffe, based in Frostholme Mill, Burnley Road.

Bosses blamed the decision on difficult trading conditions, and it has been reported that principal creditor Barclays Bank called in administrators.

The firm was bought by North Yorkshire-based Radford Furniture Company.

An adjoining venture, Nathan Furniture, is still trading.
