MONEY may not be able to buy you love – but it can sure make you stand out from the crowd.

An iconic look has been the aim of a newly-relaunched beauty salon in Todmorden, with images of James Dean, Marilyn Monroe and Audrey Hepburn adorning the walls of Tanz Beauty at the Bank.

And for those who are really keen on investing in a new look, the treatment rooms are in the vaults of the former Nat West branch.

Just for good measure, overlooking the new venture, in Rochdale Road, is a 30-foot high mural of The Green Lady. The 21st-Century twist on the iconic design, complete with dreadlocks, is the work of local artist Phil Hunter.

Part-owner Samantha Billington said: “It is a whole new concept – with everything under the one roof.

“Not only have we got Tanz but there is the Gentleman’s Quarter, for male styling, we will be making our own essential oils and there’s a lady coming in from Burnley who will be offering all kinds of massages.

“We have had a lot of help from the local community and would like to thank everyone who lent a hand because we needed to meet our deadline for the grand launch.”

Much of the internal fixtures and fittings have come from reclaimed or recycled materials.

The salon was previously based on Halifax Road but decided to move after outgrowing the shop there.
