FLOODING campaigners in Todmorden are set to share in a £310,000 pot to safeguard the town against the deluges which tormented communities in 2012.
Under the DEFRA (Department of the Environment Food and Rural Affairs) Pathfinder scheme, several ways of minimising the effect of flooding will be explored.
Support will be given to develop the Todmorden Flood Action Group, which works with residents and traders most at risk of rising waters.
And extra help will be offered to simplify the ways in which warnings are given when flooding is expected.
Further work will take place to see whether river defences can be strengthened. Environment Agency contractors are already involved in a multi-million defence programme in Todmorden.
