A MAKEOVER is in the pipeline for the woodland in Todmorden’s Centre Vale Park – thanks to volunteers.
Council leisure bosses have enlisted the help of the Blackbark Workers Co-Operative to revamp the popular venue.
Some sycamores and other varieties will be removed from Centre Vale, with the express aim of allowing more mature specimens to thrive, and allowing more natural light to reach the woodland floor.
And the branches and twigs left over will be kept to create natural habitats at a number of locations around the park.
Coun Pauline Nash, communities cabinet member, said: “We have beautiful parks around Calderdale, and this work will make Centre Vale Park an even more enjoyable place to visit.”
She added: “The hard work of council employees, Blackbark workers and volunteers will result in a park that local people can really be proud of.”
