BAE SYSTEMS is on the lookout for the next generation of talent at an apprenticeship open day tomorrow.
The firm, which has a base in Samlesbury, will be searching for the 2014 intake of apprentices at Blackburn Rovers FC’s Ewood Park from 4pm to 8pm.
There will be presentations from business leaders and former apprentices at 5.30pm and 7pm.
Former Pleckgate High School pupil, Mohammed Zaid Adam, 17, who is beginning his second year as a machining apprentice, said: “When I was at school, I started an engineering course and I always knew I was more of a hands-on learner and I cannot think of a better environment to learn in.
“The first year of training allows you to learn the basic skills and then you get the opportunity to work in different parts of the business and find out what you want to do.
“The machinery at the training school, which is the same as you would find in a modern factory, and new equipment is always arriving.”
The window for applications for apprenticeship places at BAE Systems’ sites in Warton and Samlesbury, opens on Friday, November 1.
