WORKERS on some of the world’s elite fighter aircraft have shone at awards organised to celebrate their exceptional performance.
The BAE Systems Military Air and Information (MAI) business, which employs 13,500 across 23 bases throughout the country, including Warton and Salesbury in Lancashire, has landed 11 awards into the silver category of the company’s Chairman Awards.
It also secured 139 bronze awards at an annual prize giving, which recognises individuals who have gone above and beyond in the course of their work.
A series of ceremonies have already been held to celebrate the bronze successes with silver winners attending a ceremony at the Hilton hotel, in Manchester, on November 4.
A number of winners will then be picked to go for gold at a special ceremony in London in December.
The entries from the MAI team include everything from the success of organising the company’s involvement in last year’s Preston Guild celebrations and running a high-profile campaign to promote support for mental health issues, through to innovations which can save the company millions of pounds.
