CHARITY Commission officials have raised questions about the operation of a Rossendale overseas aid mission.
Bosses at Agapao International, which has been involved with projects in Uganda, have been asked to justify the acquistion of Rossendale Radio last year.
The sale must be detailed in the charity’s annual report and accounts, says the commission, which wants an explanation as to why the radio station was listed as an investment when licence terms ‘preclude the making of profit’.
Chief execitive Louise Chicot must clarify the relationship between the UK charity and Agapao Uganda.
Hyndburn and Haslingden MP Graham Jones has opposed the charity’s plan to sell off the former Mary Hindle Centre, citing the fact it was bought with National Lottery cash for the community benefit.
The charity’s AGM takes place tomorrow at its Bury Road headquarters.
No-one from Agapao International was available for comment.
