well even if they are and i know hindsight is a wonderful thing but these 2 have been in trouble before for attacking ppl and were always roaming the streets, so the remorseful parents already knew they were at risk of doing it again. they knew that thier sons were out late at night and that they had beaten people up before this happened with sophie,an incident that happened only months before involving those two left a boy in hospital after being beaten up by them,and that wasnt the first or last time it happened.the hulme boys mum knew what they were up to but chose to ignore it,so she should be ashamed of them and herself for not doing the job of being a decent parent

Any parent who supplies there children with drink and sits by watching them get drunk, allows them to roam the streets at all times, is not a fit parent. they can not go round saying "not my boys, they are good lads" anymore. by the look of triumph of Joe Hulme's pic on here and from what has been said about the others' conduct in court ie.winking and grinning , then it seems that they feel they have celebrity status through all of this with no regard whatsover for the number of lives they have destroyed physically or emotionally.

Well, Well, Well, why does this not surprise me what has happened??? In the 90's I lived in Bacup and we were broken into and burgled, also someone had tried to set our house on fire. At that time 2 families who are related to each other,ran the estate of Bacup and every time I went to the police for help, they just said, can't do anything. Yet I was always threatened by these Families after I had been to the police. They painted the following on my window one night: CALLING 999 IS A WASTE OF TIME!!! The police were frightened of these Families! That is the only conclusion I can make for the police not helping us. So, it comes to NO surprise to me that this murder has happened, yes, I do blame the police partly for this, for things coming this far. Why?
Because if at the time when I lived there and the police would have done something, then things might have changed today. If the police would wanted to be aware of what was going on and not sent me home, then I daresare that things would have turned out different. It would have been important for the Families who threatend our families that they should have had somebody coming from the Social Services. But this way, the grandchildren don't grow up any different. I am glad I left Bacup because at the time I felt left alone by the police!!! Everybody who has lived in Bacup a long time knows what I am talking about.

herbert had kicked at least 5 boys heads in last year previous to august, most were too scared to report it, the rest of the mottley crew had attacked a dozen or more people over the last year or so, again most were too scared to go to the police and why because those that did got attacked again or them and their families threatened. If the law was even remotely adequate in this country the savage scum would have been inside long before Sophie and Rob encountered them. At least the judge had the sense to see them for the dangerous scum that they are but too late for Sophie and Rob. Since august 17 bacup teenagers have been convicted for vicously beating others up, herberts cousins , a boy and a girl, included, unfortunately their sentences are pathetic. No wonder they laugh. And thats just the tip of the iceberg, theyre the ones who get reported or caught. Its time to start putting the first offenders down for a long long time or does there have to be a another tragedy before theres a decent sentence?

yes, there is a lot of cockiness about from youths . However, to be laughing on his way into court just goes to show how ill mannered , inconsiderate and insensitive he is.It was NO laughing matter whatsoever. He should have been showing respect for Sophie and Robs' families not laughing .
As for whether he or the other 2 ( Danny & Daniel) took part in the attack on Sophie , we
will never really know. Perhaps there was not enough evidence on them , but even if they didn't , they still stood there and allowed it to happen . Also, if you have known them all their lives, you will also know that this was not their first attack . They have also been causing trouble around Shawforth for years . So don't try to defend them on here and if I were a "very close friend" of theirs, I would be choosing my friends more carefully in future.

GBH with intent, so thats ok is it? NOT!! Robs just a little less delicate than sophie was, thats the only difference. The injuries were similar.
Your friends are no different than ryan and brendan. They're all psychopathic scumbags with a history of violence who should be locked away for ever for the sake of the public. It wasnt a fight, let alone a fair fight, it was a cowardly senseless attack using kicks, instead of bullets or knife wounds, as ammunition. Just like Joe and Danny's "very close friend" it annoys me when people think all of today's youth are the same, this isn't true. For example, it sickens me to think that I'm such a close relative of these complete and utter idiots. I'm nothing like them and I don't even want to be named as part of their family any more. They should have been sentenced to longer for being so disrespectful of other people. That should be a crime in itself.
