A FATHER has told of his family's three years of hell at the hands of racists.

The dad spoke out after two boys admitted carrying out a number of racially-motivated attacks on the man's home in New Way, Whitworth.

Police said one of the boys, 13, told them he had targeted the family on up to five occasions by throwing eggs at their home because he had a problem with Muslims.

But officers decided to give him a final warning caution and the other boy a first warning, rather than bring any criminal charges.

They are trying to set up a face-to-face meeting between the 13-year-old boy and the father. He will also be referred to youth services to help.

But the father said he was disappointed by this outcome and claimed police had failed them.

He said: "I feel completely aggrieved with the situation. It's been going on for three years now and we've even put our house up for sale.

"In the past our car and house windows have been broken and bacon slices were put on our door handle.

"It is mind boggling. My colour is different and I can think of no other reason that that of why I am being targetted.

"We do not feel safe in our home."

Police said that PCSO Nick Stratton, who had been patrolling Whitworth in plain clothes, caught the boys in the act early on Wednesday afternoon.

They were arrested on suspicion of racially aggravated criminal damage and questionned.

Det Ins Graham Gallagher of the Hate Crime Unit at Burnley police said: "I believe a meeting is being set up between the offender and the victim."

Crime prevention officer Phil Buck said that the 13-year-old boy had told officers he carried out the attacks because he had a problem with Muslims.

He said: "Instances of this natures will not be tolerated and as polive we take it very seriously. We need to stamp out this kind of behaviour."

Under the cautions, the offenders are spared the court prosecution process on condition they compensate their victim in a way agreed by all parties.

Or they agree to attend a session that addresses some of the factors that led to their offending in the first place, for example a drugs or alcohol problem.

The cautions are only used for minor offences such as criminal damage, theft, and certain drugs offences.

I am a teacher, and was thinking of applying to whitworth high school some time ago. but reading articles such as this make me think twice before applying for jobs in certain areas.I have faced racial problems in the past and wouldn't want to be in the same boat again.Racism needs to stop!

Whitworth is just next to Bacup. Seems like attacking people just cos they look different is normal in that part of the world.

This isn't racism, it's more specifically Islamophobia, which is rising across Europe due to the abuse of freedom of speech and freedom to offend

I agree with Imran Khan,it is Islamophobia, but I wouldn`t call it an abuse of freedom of speech. Here in the west people are free to speak out about religion if there is something they dissagree with. This is not possible if it`s about Islam unless you want a death threat or worse.Untill that religion is brought up to this century, there will be problems.Religion has no place in todays world,it`s just a load of stories passed down from man to man over centuries, to keep the less educated people inline by fear of offending some god or other who DOES NOT EXIST.

After reading these comments it is sick that we live in a world that seems to feed on anger. But the coin is two sided.I was shopping last monday in my town when i called a taxi. The taxi never turned up i then phoned again the taxi never turned up.I was in agony as my health isnt to good.I waited for an hour an twenty minutes.I did try another firm but to no avail. The taxi eventually turned up i was polite even though anoyed but i was in pain and wanted to get home.I said to the driver were have you been ive been here ages.My reply was not nice.He laughed in my face and said so what i told him i really need to get home as quick as possible as i wasnt well. He said if you start being abusive you can walk.which i couldnt it would have been impossible.i held back the tears and let him get a bit more mad at me.I said it doesnt matter and started to lift my bag into the taxi. But i did say i had a good mind to report him to tradeing standards because it wasnt fair that i was left for nearly an hour and a half.He then called me a f...... white **** took my bag and through it on the floor.and told me to foff.i was upset but a gentlman came and helped.i did get home but im in two minds anymore to phone a taxi.ive never insulted anyone like this and wouldnt dream of it.when i got home i told my husband after i burst into tears.we have worked hard and helped people my husband would give you his last penny and help anyone as would i.the coin is two sided and i hope i never have to experience anything like this again.in my eyes life is to short
