Mayor of Whitworth's ponytail snipped for charity

THE Mayor of Whitworth has cut off his beloved ponytail to raise money for charity.

Coun Dave Bradbury said farewell to his long hair at the Ashoka Indian Restaurant, on Market Street, Whitworth, during a Mayoral Charity fundraiser last week.

His Mayoress, Angela Gerrad had the honour of snipping his locks. Coun Bradbury said: “My ponytail has been my pride and joy for eight years.

"I decided that I would allow it to be removed to raise funds during my year in office, and Angela was more than willing to do the job.

“Angela and I were absolutely delighted with the support on the night, and with the amount of money raised.

"I’d like to offer special thanks to Raj and the staff of the Ashoka for such a wonderful evening.”

The event raised £500 which will be split between Coun Bradbury’s chosen charities at the end of his term.
