A man who collapsed on Sunday following a row outside his home has died today.
Patrick Gallagher, 64, of Market Street, Whitworth, was involved in an altercation on Sunday night around 10pm.
Police and paramedics were called to reports of an argument.
Mr Gallagher was found collapsed within his home following the incident and was taken to Fairfield Hospital.
He died in the early hours of this morning.
A post-mortem examination was due to be carried out on Thursday to establish the cause of death.
Detectives investigating the circumstances of the incident have arrested four men aged 64, 59, 46 and 46, and a 46-year-old woman in connection with the incident.
All have been bailed pending further inquires until September 16.
Detective Chief Inspector Mark Gray from the Force Major Investigation Team said: “Our investigation into this incident continues and we have interviewed many people in and around the local area.
“However, I would urge anybody that was passing through the Market Street area of Whitworth on Sunday night that witnessed anything they believe could assist us with our inquires to contact us.”
