A FAULTY fax machine caught fire in an office attached to a petrol station forecourt.

A woman working at Lord's Petrol Station, Bacup Road, Waterfoot, noticed smoke coming from the office and contacted the fire service around 1.50am yesterday.

A firefighter cut power to the petrol pumps before a dry powder fire extinguisher was used to tackle the fire.

The fax machine had been smouldering for some time before the fire was spotted.
