POLICE in Rossendale have been given a new van to help them get round their beat.
Developers B& E Boys donated the white Ford KA van to help local police officers in Ross-endale East to reduce incidents of crime and disorder.
PC Mick Woods and PCSO Nick Stratton will be using the vehicle to cover their area but stress that it does not mean that they will be spending any less time on foot patrol.
Chairman Brian Boys said: "We have donated mountain bikes to local police officers prev-iously, but a car will help them get around a larger area much more quickly.
"Graffiti and vandalism are a big problem in this part of the Rossendale Valley, par-ticularly in Waterfoot. Hopefully we will see a significant reduction soon."
PC Woods said: "We are now able to reach more areas of our beat during our shift .
"It allows us greater flexibility in visiting a number of locations so that we can quickly deal with community concerns and anti-social behaviour."
