A STUDENT is aiming to compete in an international pageant in Florida after being named Miss Teen Rossendale.

Brittany Hargreaves, 17, a sports science student at Burnley College, will now compete with girls from all over the country for the title of Miss Teen Galaxy England.

Brittany lives in Whitewell Bottom, near Waterfoot, with her mum Andrea, stepdad Chris, sister Chloe and brother Mitchell.

She said to pick up the national title and a chance to compete in Florda “would be beyond her wildest dreams”.

She will be enjoying near home advantage at the national finals though, as they take place at Park Hall, near Chorley, on March 3.

The teenager, who enjoys riding her horse Merlin and cheerleading in her spare time, said: “I’m absolutely thrilled to have made it to the final.

“I can’t wait to meet the all the other girls. I will be nervous and will have to do my own hair and make up. It will be really exciting though.

“I would like a career in modelling but if that doesn’t happen I’d like to be a sports physio.”

Miss Teen Galaxy International, held near Miami, will feature contestants from all over the world in the summer of 2012.

Brittany’s mum, Andrea, said: “All her family are really chuffed and extremely proud of her.

“She’s level headed and has done so well.”
