ROSSENDALE construction firm B and E Boys has landed a lucrative contract to help expand a host of schools in Stockport.

Boys, which has its headquarters in Todd Carr Road, Waterfoot, will build bigger classrooms and playground, as well as associated alterations, at seven primary schools in the town.

The family-owned firm, started out more than 50 years ago and owns a host of properties in the Valley, started work last week.

The project has been let on a ‘design and build’ basis and involves Lum Head Primary School, Bredbury Green Primary School, Didsbury Road Primary School, Warren Wood Primary School, Lisburne Primary School, Nevill Road Primary School and Cale Green Primary School.

A spokesman for the firm said: “B and E Boys have been in construction for over 50 years and are well experienced in most types of construction for both public and private enterprise working in government buildings, educational establishments, industrial and commercial premises all over the North West and beyond, having recently worked in Stafford, Wychnor and now Enfield in London.”

John Lee, a finance director at the firm, said it was pleasing to win the ‘substantial’ contract as the economic recovery continued..

He said: “Certainly in terms of the contract side of things we are moving forwards. We have done work in Stockport before and for us, that’s local business as it’s still in the North West.”

B and E Boys has previously worked with Stockport Council to create new classrooms and a drama studio at Stockport School.
