ORGANISERS behind a floral initiative have been praised for "brightening up the town centre"

The chairman of Todmorden's Town Council's amenities committee, Coun Joe Rez, said the floral displays created by the Todmorden in Bloom group were "fantastic".

Coun Rez thanked the hard work by the volunteers, which had brought praise from the organisers of the Britain in Bloom competition, in which Todmorden had been chosen to represent Yorkshire.

Coun Rez said the town council had last year taken on the running of Patmos Gardens, which had been given to them by the owner.

He said they provided a peaceful sitting area for everyone, with the provision of benches, tree seats and a small play area.
