FOUR East Lancashire women are doing a marathon Moonwalk' to raise cash for Breast Cancer Awareness.

Karen Whitehead, of Todmorden; Carol Tighe, of Bacup; Angela Chambers, of Barnoldswick; and Darleen Green, of Burnley; are walking the 26 miles in London on May 17.

The four met when they all gave birth at Burnley General Hospital in 1989 and have been friends ever since. Now they have decided to don their black outfits and pink hats to raise cash for a charity which touches their hearts.

Karen said: "I did the walk two years ago. A few of my relatives had cancer and I feel passionate about raising awareness."

Go for it girls. Shame it needs to be done though. Can't remember anyone ever having to do a charity walk to buy a new nuclear submarine or build new council offices!
