A STACKSTEADS family have raised enough cash to fly two stray dogs, which they fell in love with while on holiday, over from Greece.

Carol Capell, of Staghill Road, organised a charity night including an auction and disco, which raised £1,448 to reunite the family with their new canine pals.

The lucky dogs, named Eira and Max, are due to be flown over to their new home in May to be reunited with their new owners.

Any cash left over from the transport of the dogs will be donated to the Greek Animal Rescue Charity.

Hang on a minute, I cannot believe that people have actually contributed to such a ridiculous cause! The money would surely be better going towards something useful like cancer reaserch not paying for 2 flea bitten hounds to come over from Greece. Dont we already have plenty of stray dogs over here that need re homing?
I might organise a charity bridge night or an egg and spoon race to raise funds to enable me to fly over a hamster called terry from adis ababa that i have recently fallen in love with! Only in the Stacksteads eh?

Chill out please! What is so wrong with someone who wants to rescue animals? Each one of us cares about different causes.... Cancer receives plenty of money from people and governments. People should not be criticized for where they chose to spend THEIR money!!!!!!

You just couldn't make this up could ya. On the Hyndburn News Page they've secured funds to help with the cleaning up of dog muck, and now people in the Valley are importing a couple of its producers. As if there isn't enough home grown fleabags.

Holiday romance?

Wonder how long before they're having another fund raiser for the strays to be put down?

Why no move out there to look after them.

Not only would it help the dogs but it would also get you out of Stacksteads.

And that has got to be a result!!
