A CAMPAIGN to upgrade a Rossendale war memorial will see 37 names dedicated in a ceremony today.

The monument, in the Peace Garden, near the Toll Bar roundabout in Stacksteads, previously only commemorated troops from the First World War.

But with the efforts of Stacksteads Countryside Group and historian Phil Broadhurst, those lost in the Second World War will also be recorded.

Mayor of Rossendale, Coun Gladys Sandiford, will attend the dedication, which will be carried out by the Rev Michael Holt.

Edenfield’s remembrance service takes place tomorrow, in Market Street, from 10.45am, with other services on Remembrance Sunday.

Sunday’s parade in Rawtenstall begins at 2.35pm, near the police station, before crossing to the cenotaph, off St Mary’s Way.

Bacup’s procession sets off from the Maden Centre, at 2.45pm, en-route to Burnley Road, and Haslingden’s sets off for Greenfield Memorial Gardens from the RBL Club, in Lower Deardengate, at 9.45am.

Morning services will also be taking place in Crawshawbooth, Helmshore and Whitworth and Waterfoot’s begins at noon. St Peter’s Church, in Haslingden, will also stage a Remembrance Concert at 7pm on Sunday.
