A COMMUNITY historian is planning a follow-up to her successful tome on the history of Bacup with a new book this Easter.
Wendy Watters, the brains behind the popular Bacup Times website, saw her self-penned work Owd Bacup find favour with local history buffs.
Now the 47-year-old, of Booth Road, is planning to release ‘Owd Stacksteads’ to celebrate the development of the neighbouring town.
She is aiming to complete the book by Easter Saturday and it should then be available in local shops and newsagents.
Wendy, who writes as WA Lord, has a proud heritage when it comes to olde worlde Bacup and Stacksteads.
Her great-great uncle John Crook was one of the founder members of Bacup Camera Club and a key contributor to the slide show presented annually by the town’s natural history society.
Several entries in Wendy’s Owd Bacup book came as a result of gems unearthed from slide show presentations made to members down the years.
