A GROUP of students from a school in Stacksteads raised £460 to be used for a charity bus to transport sick children in Uganda.
The 14 students from Fearns Community Sports College packed people’s shopping bags at Morrisons in Bacup for the charity TUSC.
The amount raised will keep the bus on the road for another month.
Most of the pupils completed two hours but one year nine student, Georgina Cross, volunteered for six hours.
TUSC’s founder, Carol Mitchell, said: “They were absolutely brilliant. They were smart, friendly, and polite and often had the customers smiling and laughing.
“I am sure their demeanour had the generous people of Bacup putting more in than perhaps they might and when they were asked what they were collecting for, they all responded really well.
“The money they raised will keep our Billy Bus fuelled for more than a month – that’s a lot of children they are going to help.”
