A MAN was rescued from his Stacksteads home after a chip pan caught fire in the early hours.
Firefighters went to the end-terrace property in Plantation Street at 3am on Saturday. The pan and its contents were badly damaged and the house suffered smoke damage.
Watch manager Chris Haworth said: “The results of chip pan fires can be just awful.
“We want to reiterate the need to be safe when using chip pans in general and to take extra special care with them.
“We need to get the message out that if you have been out or are tired, do not use them.”
