A RAWTENSTALL campaigner has planned an event to raise awareness about Burma.

Now, Matthew Egan, 25, of Bury Road, who recently organisd a peace walk to mark the 60th anniversary of Burmese independence, is inviting people to attend a talk to make people aware of the current situation.

An exiled Burmese activist will give a presentation and a documentary will be shown about life in Burma and the abuses of workers employed by western corporations.

Mr Egan said: "I've had a Burma event planned for Manchester for a while now, but it takes on another dimension given the recent tragic events to befall the country."

The free event takes plact at Manchester Student Union from 7.30pm on Monday, May 19.
