Woman falls into river in Rawtenstall

A woman was rescued after she fell into a river in Rawtenstall.

The woman, believed to be drunk, was sat on the wall near the Craven Heifer pub and fell backwards into the foot-deep river next to Burnley Road around 10.15pm last night.

She fell four feet into the water.

Firefighters were called to rescue the woman, who was then taken to hospital by ambulance.

Is this the same spot where aman fell in and died about 10 years ago? I think his nickname was tigger or tiger.

Well said. Some drunk falling in the river is more newsworthy than some poor devil dying on the by-pass...It beggers belief.
