Rawtenstall's tree-mendous welcome for Olympic torch

RAWTENSTALL’S most famous tree is being given a makeover before the arrival of a special visitor next month.

The Bocholt tree, on Bocholt Way, will be decorated by artist Sharan Bispham, and the Cherry Crescent Luncheon Club, ahead of the visit of the Olympic flame on Wednesday, June 23.

The tree will be decked out using white and gold paper, card, fabric, aluminiumfoil, Christmas decorations, fake flowers, and ornaments.

Donation centres have been set up for the public to drop off materials.

Drop-off points include the council’s One Stop shop, Lord Street, Rawtenstall Market, Newchurch Road, and Rawtenstall Library, Queen’s Square
