Construction work has started on a new £8million Sixth Form at Alder Grange Community and Technology School.
The start of the project was marked with a special sod-cutting ceremony which involved head boy Rob Pratt and head girl Katherine Lucas, other pupils, staff and the construction team.
The state-of-the art facility will cater for 300 students.
Alder Grange head David Hampson said: “Over the past few years the Sixth Form was just a dream – now it is becoming a reality and it’s very exciting.”
