A landmark pub is being re-opened by a father and son team.

Jotham Roberts,20,and his businessman dad Andrew have ploughed £250,000 into refurbishing The Railway in Bridge Street.

It will re-open its doors on Saturday,June 2,with a 1940 themed celebration.

Jotham believes Ramsbottom is crying out for a pub in which families, business people and responsible drinkers could mix.

He said:"During the day and early evening we very much see the pub attracting families and professionals while at night live music and promotions should draw in a younger crowd."

The Punch Taverns-owned bar will aim to support other local businesses, with the food menu drawing on seasonal local produce, and the Irwell Works Brewery among suppliers of its real ales.

The pubs opening coincides with the East Lancashire Railway's annual 1940's Wartime Weekend.

The revamp has seen the pubs roof replaced, and a renovated beer garden which will feature a wooden dining carriage.
