A PUB has raised nearly £2,000 to support wildlife.

Customers at the Eagle and Child in Whalley Road, Ramsbottom, put together £1,836.40 by donating £1 from their food bill over six months.

That sum will go to the Lancashire Wildlife Trust.

Landlord Glen Duckett said: “This is more about just donating to charity, this is about supporting work we believe in.

“I really want to thank our customers for helping us raise this money and support a cause that will really make a difference in our area.”

Lindsey Poole, director of marketing for the trust, said: “This is the kind of partnership dreams are made of. Glen and his team are inspirational in the way they do business and to have them support us is wonderful.

“The money raised will provide us with really vital funds to continue our work and we would like to say a huge thank you to the Eagle and Child and their customers.”

Debbie Rowlinson, the trust’s partnerships officer, said: “Partnerships like this one make a huge difference.”
