A MAN attacked his partner after an argument over a question on a television quiz programme, a court heard.

Darren Noone, 33, grabbed Sarah Kershaw's arm and shouted obscenities at her before attacking and trying to strangle her as police arrived, Burnley magistrates heard.

Noone, of Station Road, Helmshore, admitted assault by beating but claimed he had been trying to stop Miss Kershaw getting behind the wheel as she had been drinking.

A trial will be held over the facts.

Na mate. It was a question about the colour of prawns when cooked. He said Brown, and she said the same. It was only when the real answer was announced (pink) that she admitted she had been putting them in the dogs rear to warm them up a little.
