A YOUNG dad who assaulted his partner as she held their baby in her arms also smashed up a television, a court heard.
Burnley magistrates were told how self employed carpet fitter Lee Ireland, 26, was said to have threatened to kill her. The pair had argued over him wanting to go on holiday with his friends.
Ireland, who had just come in from a visit to the pub with his workmates, then got behind the wheel and was arrested over the limit.
The defendant, now of Mayfield Avenue, Helmshore, admitted assault and drink driving.
He was bailed until January 31, for a pre-sentence report.
The court was told Ireland grabbed his partner by the face and shook her whilet she was holding their nine-month-old son.
Brian Walsh, defending, said: "This was the first incident of domestic violence."
