Builders pledge to review Helmshore tree demolition
THE SAVE our Horse Chestnut Tree group have received a reply from housing developers Taylor Wimpey.
The Facebook group has over 750 Helmshore residents who are campaigning to save the 100-year-old tree on the site of the former Airtours warehouse, in Holcombe Road.
The tree is set to be demolished by Taylor Wimpey to make way for a new housing development.
In an e-mail to the group, a spokesman for Taylor Wimpey said: “I understand that the tree is of local importance, but the tree is now in a very poor condition.
“We will be reviewing this tree in the coming days and seeking another opinion on the condition of the tree. Following this we will then take the appropriate action.”
