A Rossendale youngster is looking forward to the royal treatment from Crown Carveries after winning a regional competition to design a commemorative plate for the royal wedding.

Helmshore Primary School pupil Laura Kilshaw will now get the chance to see her design made into a commemorative plate after scooping the regional prize.

Nine-year-old Laura will also get the red carpet treatment when she visits the Duke of Wellington Inn, on Grane Road, Haslingden, to enjoy a roast dinner with her family.

Laura is one of seven regional winners now competing to win £500 for their schools.

Christine Myers, head-teacher at Helmshore Primary, said: “Laura’s entry has created a real buzz in the school.

“And we’re now urging parents to log on to the Crown Carveries Facebook page to vote for her design in the final vote.”
