THE wife of former Manchester United player Chris Casper is set to skydive 10,000ft to raise money for charity in memory of his mum.

Karen Casper, 36, will take the plunge on Saturday from the Parachute Centre, in Shropshire.

She was inspired to ‘give something back’ by her Burnley-born husband running the London Marathon in support of the organisation Children with Cancer in April.

Chris, who went to St Theodore’s High School and is a former Bury manager, took part in the run following the death of his mum Brenda in 2011, at the age of 67, after a short illness.

Karen, of Tor Side, Helmshore, said she was scared of her parachute failing, but happy at the prospect of an ‘instant facelift’.

She said: “Like everybody, I have been touched by cancer, and I loved my mother-in-law dearly. I gave some time up for the Marie Curie Daffodil Appeal last month, and collected money at Tesco in Haslingden.

“But I wanted to do more for a cause that effects everyone.

“There is no way I could run a marathon, and jumping out of a plane seemed an easier option for me.

“I try not to be scared of anything and the idea of jumping out of a plane seemed like a good idea at the time and I am feeling excited for the experience of a lifetime, but I’m also scared.

“But one of my friends told me its like an instant facelift, so always look on the positives.”

Karen is a hat designer and has had pieces commissioned for the X Factor and selected for international exhibitions. The couple have two children, Grace,11, and Charlie, eight.

She added: “If you asked my friends and family they would probably use the word crazy to describe me with or without jumping out of a plane.

“My mum blames her grey hair on me and my dad blames his baldness on me.”
