Haslingden cocaine dealer’s profits seized

A COCAINE dealer from Haslingden must pay back £6,000 from the profits of his crimes.

Daniel Delaney, 22, formerly of Langwood Court, was jailed for five years in March 2009 for dealing cocaine.

A hearing at Burnley Crown Court under the Proceeds of Crime Act ordered him to forfeit the cash he made from peddling Class A drugs.

Delaney was arrested in November 2008.

He was caught with cocaine with the street value of £10,000 hidden away at a unit in Stacksteads as well as digital weighing scales, plastic bags and a hydraulic drugs press.

Police have been investigating his proceeds from crime and have successfully applied to strip him of his drug profit.

A spokesperson for Lancashire police said: “We strongly believe criminals should not be allowed to enjoy the profits from their crimes.

“Seizing assets from criminals deprives them of their capital and status, which could be used to further their criminal activity.”

Take eveythig he owns, that would be better for the scum, then if/when he gets out, keep taking everything he owns.

Those dealing in first class drugs do so knowing of the consequences that those drugs will have on the other person. The consequences to the user are of a lifetime of dependency, always tempting during stressful times to return to!
Therefore the scum dealing in drugs should be dealt with more severely than appears to be at the moment. When a sentence is made it should be stated that the full sentence “MUST” be served because we can no longer have any trust in the law knowing that original sentences are often reduced.
