TWO Geography field trips saw A level students putting theory into practice.

Year 13 students from Haslingden Sixth Form Centre travelled to the Lake District and carried out fieldwork investigations.

They looked at the orientation of striations, analysed corries and measured till characteristics in the Coppermines area of Coniston as well as carrying out interviews

Cameron Shahidi, 17, said: “We were looking at glacial landscapes and it was nice to be in such beautiful surroundings.”

Pheobe Spencer-Hall, 17, said: “I looked at infiltration routes and we were measuring how fast the water was flowing.”

They will be collating all the data and presenting it as part of their coursework.

Meanwhile, the Year 12 students went on a Geography field trip to Manchester where they carried out a series of studies.

Eliza Buckley, 16, said: “We were collecting details by surveying people and the environment, looking at the residential area and the architecture.”

Robert Shatliff, 16, said: “We also carried out a crime survey and looked at areas where people may not feel safe.”
