A 26-YEAR-OLD man fell out with his neighbour because he didn't respect the communal garden.

Blackburn magistrates heard Jonathan Eugene Meynell stepped up the abuse when he discovered his neighbour was subject to a sexual harm prevention order.

Meynell, of Cedar Street, Haslingden, pleaded guilty to racially aggravated threatening behaviour towards Zamir Ahmed. He was sentenced to four weeks in prison suspended for six months and ordered to pay £115 victim surcharge.

Janet Sime, defending, said Meynell had been helped to get his flat by several agencies and he was very 'house proud'.

"He is especially proud of the garden which he looks after with great care," said Miss Sime. "Mr Ahmed moved into the same building and he kept leaving the garden gate open so my client's dog could get out.

"He was also throwing cans and rubbish out of the window which annoyed my client."
