A 51-YEAR-OLD man who refused to provide a specimen when he was stopped by police has been banned from driving for four years.

Blackburn magistrates heard it was the third drink related driving offence committed by Phillip Michael Mason.

Mason, of West View, Haslingden, pleaded guilty to failing to provide and driving without insurance. He was made subject to a community order for 12 months with 20 rehabilitation activity days and 40 hours unpaid work, banned from driving for four years and ordered to pay £85 costs and £85 victim surcharge.

Simon Farnsworth, defending, said his client had spent 48 hours in the police cells which had given him ample time to consider his behaviour.
