A TEENAGER will spend the next two months in a young offender’s institution after admitting to shoplifting and obstructing a police officer.

Lancashire magistrates heard how Callum Stephen Brady, 19, of no fixed address stole a KitSound black speaker, valued at £30, from the Tesco store in Haslingden on May 25.

Brady returned to the store in Syke Street on June 16 and stole £35 of Ciroc Vodka magistrates heard.

On May 27 Brady also wilfully obstructed PC 3772 Stoddard in the execution of his duty. That offence took place in Rossendale.

By committing those offences Brady was in breach of a community order made by Bury Magistrates Court on March 17. The order was made in relation to two offences of theft from a shop.

His latest offences also breached community orders made by Bury Magistrates Court on August 13 and November 1, 2015. They were both for offences of stealing alcohol.

Brady pleaded guilty to two charges of shoplifting, one of breaching a community order and one of obstructing a constable in execution of their duty.

He was sent to a young offender’s institution for eight weeks and ordered to pay a £115 victim surcharge.

No orders for costs or compensation were made by magistrates.
