ROADWORKS misery on the Grane Road between Rossendale and Blackburn for drivers is over.

Emergency repairs to a high retaining wall near Heap Clough have led to more than 100 metres of single-file traffic controlled by temporary lights have been completed.

But drivers using the A56 between the M65 junction 8 and Rising Bridge roundabout face closures overnight today and tomorrow.

A Highways England spokesman said: “The overnight closures on the A56 are for drainage improvement work. The road will be closed in both directions between 8pm and 6am on Thursday 22 and Friday 23 June from Rising Bridge roundabout to the Huncoat junction. A diversion will be in place.”

A Lancashire County Council spokesman said: “The traffic management on the Grane Road has now been taken off.”
