IT'S a hen night with a difference.
Haslingden will be the venue for a pop-up hen event on June 27 where hundreds of birds which have come to the end of their commercial laying days will be re-homed.
The event has been organised by The British Hen Welfare Trust which has re-homed more than 460,000 hens since the charity began in 2005.
Local coordinator, Adele Hall, said: “These endearing hens make amazing pets and soon adapt to family life; delicious eggs are an added bonus, they will be the best you have ever tasted! If you haven’t adopted hens before, it’s incredibly rewarding and the feel-good factor in saving their lives is simply unbeatable.”
The charity asks for a donation for the hens. If you would like to adopt some you need to contact the charity in advance (they don't give out the location of the event until the hens have been 'purchased') on 01884 860084 or email hens@bhwt.org.uk.
