A GROUP of men suspected of poaching have been spotted in Grane Road, Haslingden.
White lamps were seen in the fields, and sheep and lambs were seen scattering away from four men and several dogs.
They were described as being in a blue or black 4x4, parked on private land near to Jamestone Quarry, out of sight of the road.
According to the National Farmers Union, sheep rustling is becoming an increasing problem, with 60,000 sheep stolen nationally in 2011 alone.
One farmer, from Wycoller in Colne, had 33 of his flock had been stolen in February, less than 12 months after 15 of his sheep were snatched the previous year.
Police are urging anyone who witnesses people acting suspiciously to call them on 101.
