PUPILS swapped lessons for an 'all expenses' day of pampering at a luxury hotel as a reward for their third outstanding Ofsted report.

School bosses organised a party for the 143 pupils of ccc, in Haslingden, at the plush Dunkenhalgh Hotel, in Clayton-le-Moors, after inspectors praised their exemplary behaviour in a report last December.

And yesterday the four to 19-year-olds took part in a circus skills workshop, enjoyed a soft play area, a candy floss machine, a clown show, a photo booth and a disco.

Older students were also able to use the hotel’s luxurious swimming pool, spa and gym.

Andy Squire, principal of the school in Clod Lane, said: “It is most pleasing that in spite of the bar being set ever higher by Ofsted, the staff and pupils have shown that standards have been not only maintained, but built upon.

“Undoubtedly, the highlights of our inspection were the recognition of the wonderful pupils and stuents and that of the staff team.

“The work of teaching assistants and teachers could not be praised more highly and we are very proud of the whole staff team.

“The children were equally magnificent and the report reflects the progress they make at Tor View School.

“Governors and school staff feel that they really deserve this celebratory event and we wanted it to be a huge pat on the back.”

The day out was paid for by using cash from a private donor, the Friends of Tor View, and the school budget.

Head teacher Angela Holdsworth, said: “The outstanding grade enables the school to continue to retain National Teaching School status.”.
