THINGS have come full circle for the East Lancashire Long Distance Walkers, who celebrate their 25th anniversary this weekend.

The group will mark their silver jubilee by repeating the Edenfield Roundabout' - the first walk they organised back in February 1983.

Members will begin the 20-mile circular walk at the Rostrons Arms, Market Place, Edenfield, at 9am on Sunday.

Paul Allen, who took part in the original walk, will lead the expedition. He does not intend to follow the exact route of the original walk - partly because quarry excavations near Rooley Moor Road have led to the disappearance of some footpaths and partly because Paul cannot remember precisely where the walk went.

Anyone interested in joining the walk should contact him on 01204 852438.

The East Lancs LDW group hold their meetings at the Pack Horse Inn, Watling Street, Affetside, at 8pm on the first Tuesday of every month.
