NEW play equipment has been installed at parks in Edenfield and Stubbins.
Work at the parks in Chatterton Road and Exchange Street was completed in time for Christmas.
Rossendale Council had originally pencilled in improvements at the two parks for 2012 but ward councillor Darryl Smith called for the work to be brought forward after some pieces of old equipment had to be removed for safety reasons.
Coun Smith said: "A lot of people felt that we were getting a bad deal compared to other areas, such as Ramsbottom.
The play facilities at both Edenfield and Stubbins were looking very poor. I should think the new equipment has been getting plenty of use over the Christmas holidays and I hope people will be pleased with the improvements."
Improvements at Edenfield will continue with the installation of a new bench at the play area. Edenfield Residents' Association won a grant from Rossendale Council to pay for the work.
